The boys had been eyeing those muscle-laden superhero costumes for years. So when we were a month out from Halloween and they still weren’t sure, we went looking for inspiration. They saw them. They had to have them. It was looking like I wasn’t going to get the costume making fix I look forward to every Halloween.
Or not…Mom and Dad might as well join in the fun, right?
So one Sunday morning, we tried out the donut shop near our new place and headed to the top of a parking garage to capture our superhero family costumes. (And then ask Dad to work some additional magic.)
Some of us were thrilled with the photoshoot.
Others were not.
And then they got invited to a How to Train Your Dragon party and they were eager to be transformed.
Two hoodies, a pair of sweats, a cat tail, some left over felt and a fantastic tutorial…
and we had Toothless.
A monkey costume, a shirt and pants and a lot of inspiration…
and we had a Hiccup.
They were eager to climb trees.
They were so excited to act out some of the scenes from the movie.
So what happens the first year we plan a coordinated family costume theme? We don’t do it. But we had so much fun getting ready for Halloween!
